In a heartfelt tribute to Black History Month, Congressman Sanford Bishop of Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District led the 39th annual Black History Month Observance Breakfast in Columbus, marking an event of significant cultural and educational support. This year’s breakfast, held at the PageDoleman Complex on 8th Street, underscored a deep commitment to the enrichment of the community through substantial charitable contributions exceeding $50,000.

The gathering was illuminated by the presence of House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who delivered the keynote address. The event, known for its illustrious lineup of previous speakers including Barack Obama and Jill Biden, continues to be a pivotal moment for community cohesion and celebration of African American history in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Embracing the spirit of giving and support, Congressman Bishop allocated substantial donations to local organizations such as Lets Grow STEAMx and Micah’s Promise. These funds are earmarked to foster initiatives that propel youth development and education forward, reinforcing the importance of African American cultural heritage. Trey Giles, founder of Southeast Selects, spoke on the contributions’ significance, highlighting how they will bolster the community’s efforts in nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators.
