In North Dakota, a trio of candidates is reshaping the state’s political landscape as they prepare for upcoming elections. U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong and Lt. Gov. Tammy Miller are locked in a competitive race for the Republican nomination for governor, while U.S. House candidate Rick Becker seeks to galvanize support despite controversies surrounding his campaign financing.

With Gov. Doug Burgum stepping aside, Armstrong and Miller have each thrown their hat in the ring, eyeing the governor’s mansion. Armstrong, leveraging his record in Congress, has promised transparency and to champion grassroots support. Miller, on the other hand, has emphasized her commitment to conservative values and the importance of working collaboratively with the Legislature. Meanwhile, Rick Becker has taken a different path in his bid for the U.S. House. His campaign has amassed over $820,000, a significant portion of which—around 66%—originates from his own pocket. Despite this substantial financial backing, Becker’s approach to campaign spending has been unorthodox, with no advertisements released by his campaign to date. This strategy starkly contrasts with his competitor, Public Service Commissioner Julie Fedorchak, who has taken a more traditional route with active radio and television campaigns. Furthermore, Becker has received external support from the Protect Freedom PAC, which has been instrumental in bolstering his campaign through various spending initiatives.

Apart from the campaign trails, Congressman Kelly Armstrong recently made an appearance on The Steve Hallstrom Show, indicating his commitment to engaging with constituents on pressing issues. Armstrong, alongside Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski, discussed conservative values and community concerns, encouraging interactive participation from the audience.
