Date: April 27, 2024 Ronny Jackson

In a celebrated announcement from Congressman Ronny Jackson’s office, Ashlyn Akemon from Shamrock emerged as the distinguished winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition within Texas’s Thirteenth Congressional District. This yearly competition, a tradition since 1982, invites young artists to showcase their talent, with a focus this year on the rich landscapes and landmarks of the district.

Akemon’s winning entry, titled “The Vintage Collection,” features an evocative portrayal of vintage cars set against the storied backdrop of the Conoco Station along the legendary Route 66. This piece of artwork not only captures the nostalgic essence of Americana but also highlights the unique historic and cultural identity of Texas’s Thirteenth District.

As the 2023 victor, Akemon’s artwork will be accorded the honor of being displayed in the United States Capitol, where it will represent the district’s artistic spirit for one year. The competition, which has been a platform for young artists to gain national recognition for their artistic contributions, continues to celebrate and encourage the creative talents within the community.
