Boosting Community Health and Safety: Congressman Nickel’s $2.8M Federal Windfall for NC Counties
In an affirmative stride towards enhancing public services, Congressman Wiley Nickel, representing North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District, has successfully secured a substantial sum exceeding $2.8 million in federal funding. This funding is earmarked for pivotal community infrastructure projects across Johnston and Harnett counties, aiming to foster improvements in police services, water systems, and workforce development.
During a series of press conferences in various towns, Nickel detailed the allocations of the federal funds. Notably, the town of Selma is set to receive $330,000 to upgrade police equipment. Meanwhile, Smithfield’s law enforcement will benefit from an injection of $124,000, specifically designated for the acquisition of body cameras, aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in policing.
The funding scope broadens with nearly $1 million directed towards the town of Benson, with the investment focusing on significant upgrades to the water system. This endeavor aligns with the broader goal of ensuring sustainable and safe water services for the community. Further solidifying the commitment to economic and workforce development, over $1.4 million of the federal funds have been allocated to the city of Dunn. This substantial investment will pave the way for the establishment of an advanced manufacturing and biotech training center, promising to uplift the local economy by equipping residents with in-demand skills for high-tech industries.
Through these targeted investments, Congressman Nickel champions the enhancement of community health, safety, and prosperity, reinforcing his dedication to the constituents of North Carolina’s 13th Congressional District.
